On 25 March 2026, the Lippe Care Day 2026 took place at the Innovation Campus Lemgo, focusing on the theme of “Interprofessional care for the very elderly”. 150 participants from the fields of medicine, nursing and therapy attended this event organised by the University Hospital OWL (UK OWL), Campus Klinikum Lippe, at the Technische Hochschule OWL (TH OWL) in the premises of the Department of Computer Science and Automation. inIT’s Discrete Systems Working Group, led by Prof. Dr. Volker Lohweg, contributed to this highly topical interprofessional exchange with two research projects.

ISyCARE transfer project

At a dedicated stand, Frauke Wiegräbe, research associate in the Discrete Systems working group, presented the ISyCARE innovation community transfer project. The four-year project focuses on the integration of socio-technical systems into health-oriented care for people requiring rehabilitation and support. The aim is for the innovation community to establish user-oriented research into care technologies and bring these innovations to the people. The ISyCare project addresses, on the one hand, patients for whom the relevant socio-technical innovations are intended to improve their quality of life, and, on the other hand, nursing and medical staff, whose workload is to be reduced through the use of intelligent systems.

PD-Assist app research project

Patrick Gaudl, research associate in the Discrete Systems working group, presented the current status of the Parkinson’s app, which is being developed in close collaboration with the University Clinic for Neurology and Neurogeriatrics, UK OWL Campus Klinikum Lippe. The PD-Assist app is designed to make everyday life easier for both specialist staff and those affected, and to support interprofessional care for people with Parkinson’s disease.

Valuable user-oriented research

The Lippe Care Day 2026 highlighted the challenges facing the healthcare sector in the interprofessional care of patients. As part of the patient journey, reliable nursing care must be guaranteed within regional care structures.

“Particularly with regard to our ISyCARE community, we are able to make a valuable contribution in this context to the user-oriented development of social and technical solutions,” Frauke Wiegräbe is certain.
